Semisonic, 20th Century Masters – The Millenium Collection

Closing time – open all the doors and let you out into the world.
Closing time – turn all of the lights on over every boy and every girl.
Closing time – one last call for alcohol, so finish your whiskey or beer.
Closing time – you don't have to go home but you can't stay here.

Chorus:
I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
Take me home...

Closing time – time for you to go out to the places you will be from.
Closing time – this room won't be open 'til your brothers or your sisters come.
So gather up your jackets, and move it to the exits - I hope you have found a friend.
Closing time – every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

Chorus

Closing time – time for you to go out to the places you will be from...

Chorus

Closing time – every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end...

As the title implies, this song is about Endings – the first phase of Transition that requires you to let go of who you were before a change takes place.  Just as the song says, you cannot begin until you end.  You cannot start a new way of living, a new relationship, or a new identity until you have let go of the old attitudes, behaviors, and relationships that are not working for you anymore.  When a change takes place, our old reality no longer exists.  We cannot go back to the way things were.  We cannot go “home” again. We have to make a New Beginning – find a new “home” – and the only one who can take you there is you.
